Georgia EBT online and out-of-area purchases blocked by default

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - If you use a Georgia EBT card new security rules could stop your next purchase.Since October, online EBT purchases are blocked by default and so are purchases outside Georgia and its five bordering states. To shop online or use your card while traveling, you now have to unlock it first. You can lock or unlock your card through the ConnectEBT website or app or by calling the EBT call center at 1-888-421-3281 for EBT support.DHS also said all new and replacement EBT cards are now mailed inactive, so you must activate them before you can use them. Officials said both changes are designed to cut down on fraud and protect your benefits.
