Chatham Co. Sheriff’s Office filled with Halloween spirit at Fall Festival — Savannah Arts news

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office parking lot was decked out in all things Halloween for this year’s Fall Festival.Tables were covered in food and candy as music filled the space. They also held a free book giveaway and had bouncy houses for the kids.Sheriff Richard Coleman said it wasn’t about just getting in the spooky spirit, but making sure the community had a safe place to celebrate.“The day and time that we live in safety is just a priority. It’s a priority in everything,” he said. “When you have kids out in the community, out in the streets, we need to provide a safe environment for these kids to enjoy themselves during the holidays.”Coleman said to always be aware of your surroundings too, whether passing out candy, knocking on doors, or heading downtown. He also urged parents to check all candy before letting their kids have the first bite for safety.
