One seriously injured after camper fire in Burton — Savannah Health news

BURTON, S.C, (WTOC) - One man was seriously injured after a camper fire in Burton Saturday morning. Officials say emergency crews responded to Baynard Road just after 8 a.m. on reports of a camper fire where two people were said to be living. Fire crews arrived on scene to find the camper almost fully involved with sounds of explosions, which is believed to have been caused by and camper’s air conditioning unit and pressurized containers in the camper. One adult male resident was pulled out of the camper by a neighbor and sustained serious injuries. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. With reports of possibly one more person inside, Burton firefighters entered the camper, but found no one else inside. The injured male was taken and treated at the hospital. No other injuries were reported. Officials say the fire was determined to be unintentional and believed to have been caused by the resident smoking while on home oxygen.
